Conventional & Sustainable

Maison J. Denuziere has its origins in 1876, when Joanny Paret began delivering Condrieu wines by wagonload to customers in the surrounding villages.  Vins Paret succeded and grew into a respected negociant firm, renamed Vins Denuziere by Joanny's son-in-law Pierre Denuziere.  After a sale in the early 2000's, the focus was changed from negociant work to wine production and towards becoming a full-fledged Domaine, with a focus on high-quality wines from select appellations in the northern Rhone. Today, their Condrieu and Cornas are domaine-produced, while the fruit for the Saint Joseph, Crozes, Hermitage and Cote Rotie are purchased from top-quality growers.

Winemaking is in the hands of Caroline Moro, who hails originally from Burgundy. Caroline joined the winery in 2014. Meticulous and passionate, she described herself as a “Cartesian,” but through her travels in the French and European vineyards she has learned to detach herself from her scientific mind to finally trust her intuition. She loves wandering through the vineyard and the terroirs to fully immerse herself in their character. Once she truly understands them she begins to imagine the wines that will come into being. In the cellar she uses her artisanal technique aiming at minimum intervention and always driven by the current vintage. Caroline reveals the beauty of the Northern Rhône Valley by handcrafting wines with freshness and elegance. She embodies the J.Denuzière spirit to perfection.

Today, the Domaine's own vineyards are sustainably-farmed as Denuziere moves its production further towards environmentally sound practices, and produces critically-acclaimed and compelling Northern Rhone wines.
